The halmaddi resin comes from the ailanthus triphysa tree. A distinctly resinous, balsamic scent with an rich portion of halamadi resin makes this closely related to the original Sia Baba Nag Champa sticks. Though it was traditionally used as a binding agent rather than as a scent ingredient, it does have a scent of its own which in the West is associated the famous blue Sia Baba incense. The association is so strong some consider halmaddi essential to a great scent many think of it to be the heart and soul of the original Sia Baba Nag Champa sticks that are no longer available.
